Sometimes, it’s hard to grasp why we engage in behaviors that don’t serve us. We often find ourselves repeating habits we know are unhealthy. This happens because many of these habits are unconscious programs that our conscious mind can't fix.


We see others struggle with their habits and wonder, "Why do they keep doing that?" Yet, we often do the same. It’s perplexing, isn’t it?

Overeating, insomnia, smoking, nail-biting, and overthinking—any habit can be addressed through subconscious reprogramming.


It’s tough to comprehend why we don’t stop harmful behaviors. A part of us knows the truth but often seeks comfort or pleasure through these actions.


Sometimes, a habit feels like it has a mind of its own, beyond our conscious promises and willpower. And that’s true! You can’t solve unconscious behavior with just conscious effort. This often leads to guilt, creating a conflict within ourselves.


We need hypnotherapy to stop overeating because it accesses the deeper mind where all habits reside—the good and the bad. Habits that serve us are good; habits that spoil our well-being are not.


The Power of Choice: Making Conscious Decisions


Choices often happen at an unconscious level. They stem from how we were raised, the beliefs of our parents, and our attempts to shield ourselves from criticism.


Did You Choose to Be Frightened?


For instance, no one consciously chooses to fear heights. This fear is a natural mechanism to protect us from falling.


Later in life, some people choose to overcome that fear by reframing it as excitement. They might try parachuting or mountain climbing to embrace the thrill of heights.


Now, you might think overeating has nothing to do with fear. But if you find yourself "eating for comfort," consider why you need that comfort. The answer may be hidden deep within.


Choice: The Most Powerful Tool


Choice is the most powerful thing a human can do. Often, we either make choices unconsciously or let others make choices for us, sometimes to our detriment.


Stopping Unconscious Behaviors


So, how do we make choices conscious? How do we enable others to understand their choices and the consequences of their actions—and inactions? With hypnotherapy to stop overeating, we can take conscious awareness further. We can use the unconscious mind to experiment with new behaviors.

Think of something you regularly do that you consider "bad" or unhealthy.


This could be overeating, drinking too much, or even shouting at a child or pet out of frustration.


Catch Yourself in the Act


If you can catch yourself in the moment, ask yourself these questions in the present tense. If it’s something from the past that you regret, use the past tense.


This is a choice.
This is my choice.
I am choosing to…
My reason for this choice is…
This is what I am feeling; this is how I will respond.
This is the action I will take.
The result of my action was…
That was my choice too.

Use Your Experience Wisely


You can’t move beyond something you don’t acknowledge. Every experience is useful. Ignoring or denying your needs means you won’t improve. In fact, that behavior may resurface even stronger.


There’s a Reason for Everything


When we understand our choices and the reasons behind others' actions, everything changes.
